It's been three months since one of the Big Four Sports Leagues have had a game. Since the shutdown, each of the leagues is at different stages of resuming or starting play. The NBA was originally seeming to be the leader in resuming play with plans to host most teams in DisneyWorld. Lately this return plan has run into some issues that concerned players recently discussed in a phone call last Friday night. On the other side, the MLB, which is synonymous with summer, has had issues organizing a plan that the players and owners can agree on. Owners have been submitting proposals that cut the players salary with players frustrated the owners aren't willing to take a potential loss one year. This rift between players and owners with the CBA needing to be renewed the next year makes for the return of MLB to be quite uncertain. While we don't know when the MLB will start again, there will be baseball this summer in the form of the American Association of Independent Baseball. This six team league is starting the season July 3rd playing in three hubs: Fargo, Sioux Falls, and Milwaukee. Baseball will be played in Milwaukee and we will be covering the Milwaukee Milkmen fully.
With this league Batting Border will be split. James and I will be covering the Milkmen fully with Jon following the Saint Paul Saints and catching any Fargo games he can. In addition to the Milkmen being a fantastic name, the team features some local talent like OF Adam Brett Walker who was a former top prospect for the Twins and attended Milwaukee Lutheran HS. We will have more updates as more information comes to light. Get ready for the #SummerofMilk.
