You know your day is going to be great when it starts off with an unprecedented 40-minute interview of your favorite quarterback dropping completely out of the blue. It was a great introspective interview with questions that tried to dig deep into Aaron's personal opinions and thoughts on a range of topics, none of which were about football. Rodgers talked about how clickbait media and the short attention span of the audience lends itself to misinformation and media personalities presenting their opinion as fact to be reported. He gently addressed the annual stories that come out saying he is a bad teammate and just bad human. He talked about hiking Machu Picchu and sweating a lot, he mansplained 'The Office", talked about the NFL doing a 180 on racial justice since the Colin Kaepernick kneeling, and finished the interview off with his in-depth knowledge on UFOs. There were some huge things he said in this interview which I will now address in list form because I am a bad writer and it is an easy crutch to lean on.
Aaron Rodgers is a big-time "Buddy" guy. he called Dan and Stu buddy multiple times. I am a well established Buddy hater. I find it condescending when used. Buddy is reserved for children and dogs, and to call a peer buddy is just ridiculous. I realize my views on Buddy are stronger than most, and in most instances, it is an endearing term, however, I stand by my opinion. Most bar fights (in movies and TV) are started with some line like "Hey buddy, why don't you stop harassing those people." Or when someone messes up and thinks you use vanilla yogurt in lasagna "Aww buddy, lasagna shouldn't taste sweet." No more Buddy 2020. (Editor can confirm James' buddy hate)
Aaron Rodgers really does not like naming names or going after particular people. He was very broad when discussing the "Rodgers is a stuck up prick" articles, often just saying the media in general. When Dan brought up Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley, Rodgers just talked about how good of players both were and how he likes both the guys and harbors no hate towards them. Those two happen to be quote machines, with Finley saying Rodgers was a bad leader and a Diva.
Aaron Rodgers is obviously not a vain person. If he were a vain person, when he talked about re-watching "The Office", he would have remarked about how he happened to be in an episode of the hit show. The ultimate team player.
This interview had zero Jordan Love questions or football questions. This makes the interview good. I have heard Rodgers talk about football, I have not heard him talk about his knowledge of Roswell, however. He even knew off the cuff what year the UFO incident happened. He also apparently had his own UFO experience in 2005 that I had absolutely no idea about. I am not going to accuse Rodgers of making a deal with extraterrestrials for a right arm that is the closest man can come to perfection, but I am also not not saying this.
I think Rodgers has brought up Scotch in every single interview I have ever heard. I do not know how Scotch is made or what environment leads to good Scotch, but after he retires, Green Bay might become the Scotch Capital of the World. (This title belongs to Dufftown in Scotland, but they don't have cheese flavored Scotch so we can corner that market)
I wish this interview was 40 minutes longer, I also wish that they would have had time to discuss more light topics, even though I thought Rodgers' comments on politics and the state of America today were very well thought out and show that he has spent a lot of time meditating on his opinions to reflect what he believes and not to sway others and pander to sides. I will admit this article comes out of bias, I love Rodgers and will always appreciate everything he has done for my life and his adopted home state. Even though I just found out he is a "Buddy" guy.
